Where We Serve - Disaster Relief
Medical
Missionaries responds to Disaster Relief needs wherever they occur. In recent years, Medical Missionaries
has helped victims of the tsunami in Sri Lanka and hurricane Katrina in the U.S. We have equipped and maintain
an emergency trailer to serve the greater Washington, DC area, providing back-up to disaster response teams and supplies in
the event of a major disaster. When an earthquake struck Haiti on
January 12, 2010, Medical Missionaries responded by sending six teams of doctors, nurses, EMTs, and support staff to provide
relief in Port au Prince and other towns hit hard by the earthquake. Over the next several months, additional
teams were sent, well over 125 responders in all. When
the cholera epidemic broke out in November, Medical Missionaries assembled several other teams of volunteers to help manage
the large number of patients at St. Joseph Clinic.
