Medical Missionaries Serving The Poor

Medical Missionaries, a 501(c)(3) company, is a volunteer group of more than 200 doctors, nurses, dentists, and others who work to improve the health of the poorest of the poor in the U.S. and throughout the world. We provide medical care and medical supplies, clothing and food to the areas we serve.

One area of focus has been along the Haiti-Dominican Republic border. In Thomassique, Haiti, we have built and support St. Joseph Clinic (hospital), the first medical facility in this region of more than 125,000 people.

Medical Missionaries, Inc. is listed on GuideStar as a reputable and trustworthy organization to donate to.

A New Healthcare Partnership in Haiti

Medical Missionaries is pleased to announce that it has entered into a partnership with Caritas Hinche to improve the management and administrative oversight of St. Joseph Clinic in Thomassique, Hinche.  This will result in improved operations, increased local support of the Clinic, and a more sustainable footing for the Clinic for the foreseeable future.

Caritas will assume responsibility for day-to-day oversight of the Clinic administration, and Medical Missionaries will continue to provide financial support and medical oversight, as it has since the founding of the Clinic in 2007. Medical Missionaries will continue to send its medical and surgical teams during the course of each year.

Caritas Hinche is the social service and relief agency of the Catholic diocese of Hinche in the Central Plateau of Haiti.  Caritas provides a wide variety of social services throughout the diocese, including healthcare programs. The local Caritas Committee in Thomassique will assist Caritas with the oversight of St. Joseph Clinic

Medical Missionaries News

Medical Missionaries Warehouse Closing

Medical Missionaries received notice that our warehouse facility will no longer be available, as the barns that have served as our warehouse have been scheduled for demolition later this year.

We are in the process of seeking new warehouse space. In the meantime, people are asked not to bring supplies or donations to the warehouse.

We thank the Benedictine sisters of Bristow VA for donating the warehouse space for all these years. Their generosity has allowed us to send more than 150 sea containers of health care supplies to the poorest of the poor throughout the world.

Medical Missionaries Serving the Poor in 2014

Many might know us primarily for the work we do at St. Joseph Clinic in Haiti, but we serve the poor throughout the world, starting in our own backyard.

During 2014, we sent numerous shipments of clothing, household supplies, and medical supplies to Northern Virginia and Washington, DC, West Virginia, and South Dakota. Working with other NGOs, we sent medical equipment and supplies to Guinea Bissau, Central Africa Republic, Bolivia, and Northern Haiti. We also shipped sea containers of food to the Dominican Republic, as part of the USAID Food Relief program. We thank you for your support that makes our work possible.
